We stopped on the way to Maungawhai Heads to let the dogs out for a quick romp and watering, in between squalls. It was a wintery day, the tide was out, exposing the mudflats and the wind buffeted the grasses, and us. The grey ominous clouds were threatening rain so once legs were stretched, it was back into the shelter of the car to continue our journey North.
