This painting was from an early spring getaway at the beautiful Mimiwhangata Deptartment of Conservation Regional Park, a 7-day stay with no one around for miles. This was the view from our window, perfect to see what the day may bring - mostly sunshine for the majority of our trip. On this particular day we were heading back to the bach when suddenly, black clouds appeared seemingly out of nowhere. The light was bright and the sea turned the most beautiful turquoise colour just before the heavens opened and saturated everything in sight.
We arrived back just in time and it was a great excuse to put the kettle on and settle in for an afternoon read.
