We often travel to Ohakune as we have family there and are lucky enough to have a small chalet to just blob, away from the madness of work and Auckland.
I love the King Country, the farmland is heartland territory and you can see the pride in how the farmers keep their land. Often interspersed with rows of poplar trees and forestry, it reminds me more of European influence rather than the the beautiful bush and whenua further north. It's nice to see there's a drive to reintroduce New Zealand natives and the regeneration of the bush.
